<MouthMouse> creates a smart device-controlled mouse that can be used as a mouth for people with physical disabilities. Through this, we have a vision to secure online accessibility for people with physical disabilities and not to be left out of the information society.
Online classes are widely conducted due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19, but users with disabilities are easily excluded from this online class platform. For students who have difficulty keeping their eyes on the screen for a long time, it is difficult to watch the class itself, and alternative texts on the website for the visually impaired and sign language/subtitle support for the hearing impaired are also insufficient. In the case of people with developmental disabilities, special education contents are not provided online, so online education itself is impossible.
The problem of online information accessibility for the disabled continues in everyday life beyond the COVID-19 situation. According to the Korea National Information Society Agency's Information Gap and Survey, the level of mobile informatization, which combines mobile access/mobile capabilities/mobile use of the disabled, is only 30.2% of the mobile informatization level of the non-disabled people. In addition, the level of access to digital informatization by disability is 73.6% of non-disabled citizens, with significantly lower access to mobile devices and digital informatization.

These barriers to mobile and digital information are also obstacles to enjoying daily life as a member of society. In modern society, a high proportion of the information provided is delivered using electronic devices such as mobile phones and computers, so if it is difficult to use mobile, the disabled are excluded from a significant amount of information. Typically, financial transactions using smartphones, traffic checks and reservations, and online learning are difficult, and participation in social activities is also limited.
Among them, <Mouse Mouse> tries to focus particularly on the ability of the physically disabled to use mobile devices. In a survey of mobile device utilization by type of physical disability, brain lesion disorder, visual impairment, and hearing/language disability, the ability of people with physical disabilities to use them was the lowest compared to other types of people with disabilities. The cause of this phenomenon is the characteristics of mobile devices that can only be actively used by body parts such as hands and arms. For example, people with physical disabilities who have difficulty touching the touch screen will have relatively limited time and space in using the device. In particular, smartphones can be more difficult to use because the screen is relatively narrow and there are many movements.
